Online Conference

This year we are offering this stand alone online conference which matches our face to face conference events in June, but it is for those who cannot travel to the locations or who cannot get a whole day away from their education work.

Hosted by Ann Finlayson, CEO of SEEd, the online conference features facilitated workshops, discussions, key note speeches (including Jonathon Porritt), networking opportunities and market places. All this without travelling anywhere!

The conference follows the Sustainable Schools Framework and this year is based around 6 themes:

  • Engaging young people in sustainability
  • Linking sustainability with biodiversity – International Year of Biodiversity
  • Climate change & Energy commitments
  • Outcomes for children & young people – the evidence
  • Leading sustainable schools
  • Linking to extended schools

The online conference will run for six weeks in June and July, and is included in the conference fee for delegates attending any of the two venues.

Prospective participants do not need special software, just access to the internet with a browser and an email address. The 2010 online conference will be supported by Moodle, which facilitates discussion and promotes online learning and collaboration.

5 reasons to participate online:

Structure - Our online conference has the look and feel of a real event spread over 6 weeks instead of 6 hours.

Flexibility - participate for a few minutes a day (or longer!) instead of a whole day out of school, which means you save on supply staff and travel costs.

Engage & Interact - each week you get a choice of activities or workshops, keynotes speeches, and discussions to join in on. Workshops will be introduced by the presenters who will then be available for Q&A, just like a real conference.

Network - Like all good conferences, the networking opportunities continue throughout. Meet and greet others, ask questions, start a discussion - swap contacts.

Experienced Facilitators - this is a fully facilitated conference. Our 2 facilitators are very experienced in running online learning events, such as WWF's very successful 'Opening the Doorways to Sustainability' online course.

Registration

The online conference gives those unable to attend any of the regional events the opportunity to access to all 4 conference resources for only £75.00. Student registration (with proof) is £35.00. Sign up others in your school and qualify for a 10% discount.

For information on how to register, please visit the registration pages of the conference website.
