The RSPB is the UK charity working to secure a better environment for birds and people. We have over a million members, including 170,000 under the age of 18. Each year over 60,000 pupils enjoy out-of-classroom learning at RSPB nature reserves around the UK.

In addition to our youth membership - which includes 400 Wildlife Explorer clubs - 5,000 young people are taking part in our Wildlife Action Awards and a further 25,000 participants investigating their local environment through WildSquare. Every year nearly 100,000 school children also take part in the RSPB’s Big Schools Birdwatch.

The RSPB is the managing partner for the BBC’s Breathing Places Schools scheme, and chair of the Natural Environment Sector Partnership within the new Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.
